    I guess it depend on the installation.  you could put some Caulk or sealant on  probably would recommend it  here in Vancouver area.  Up in your neck of the woods ??? if its exposed probably the same.  you get enough rain/ snow.   If however this is already an extra cap shingle then  just leave it.

    Hi Roland,

    I assume you are talking about exposed fasteners. I created that question to test the forum.

    In most instances I tell my clients there is a low probability of leakage, but because the fasteners sometimes back out, I suggest they caulk the fasteners when routine maintenance is done on the roof. Exposed fasteners typically are at the top of the roof where water does not accumulate.
