Industry Awards
The Home Inspection Association BC (HIABC) provides members with an enriched career by providing opportunities to serve our association and its members. Awards for distinctive service are provided to recognize our members who have given of themselves for the betterment of our industry.
The Helene Barton Distinguished Service Award
The Helene Barton Distinguished Service Award, named in honor of the esteemed long-time executive director of the HIABC, recognizes administrative staff who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedicated years of service in roles such as registrar or executive director. This prestigious award celebrates individuals who have exemplified outstanding commitment and excellence in their administrative duties, embodying the values and vision of HIABC

The Bill Hopen Award
The Bill Hopen Award is dedicated to the memory of Bill Hopen, a founding member of HIABC who provided much wisdom and insight during the association’s formative years. The Award is presented annually at the HIABC Annual General Meeting to an individual who has furthered the development of the Home Inspection profession in British Columbia.

The Association Service Award

Owen Dickie Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award
The Owen Dickie Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award is dedicated to the memory of Owen Dickie, a founding member of CAHPI(BC) – now HIABC – who worked selflessly to advance the home inspection industry from its raw beginnings to the professional it is today. From bylaws and policies to professional examinations and provincial licensing. Owen was a driving force behind every advancement. The Award is given in recognition of exceptional long term contribution by an individual to HIABC and the Home Inspection Industry.
